There are areas that are absolute dream to live in and areas that can be a real nightmare.
So I usually make more positive blogs but based on my conversations with a few subscribers on YouTube it actually got me thinking that when someone moves to the UK, they might not be the best judges of places
I mean they’ve probably never lived in the UK before or even visited the UK.
This place is often referred to as the boil on the you know where of Buckinghamshire.
So I usually make more positive blogs but based on my conversations with a few subscribers on YouTube it actually got me thinking that when someone moves to the UK, they might not be the best judges of places
I mean they’ve probably never lived in the UK before or even visited the UK.
And the truth is that we’re all moving here wanting what’s best for ourselves and our families
And that one decision of where to live can completely change the way you experience and perceive the UK.
There are areas that are absolute dream to live in and areas that can be a real nightmare
Which is why today, I’ll be telling you the 5 places in the UK you must absolutely avoid living in.
I know I might get some hate for this, but this is based off reports and not something I’m claiming.
Now with that, let’s dive in.
5. Peterborough
If you’ve never heard of the place, I don’t blame you. I hadn’t either. But from reports, Peterborough has very often topped this list as the absolutely worst place to live, but this time round has slipped to the 5th place.
Peterbourough is located north of its much more famous neighbour Cambridge.
One of the reasons it’s one of the worst places to stay is its Crime rate which is 45% higher than the crime rate of England, Wales & NI, which makes it the most dangerous city in Cambridgeshire. The overall crime rate in Peterborough in 2021 was 111 crimes per 1,000 people.
Some of the people living in Peterbourough mentioned that they felt totally isolated from the from the rest of the world and life in general, as though everything else is going on and you’re not part of it as you’re stuck in this dump”.
If you plan on living here, don’t make eye contact for more than 3 secs with a stranger, don’t park your car in a remotely unsafe car park or it might be stolen, don’t listen to strangers too carefully and you won’t hear snide racists remarks and you’ll be good.
2. Liverpool
At 4th place is Liverpool. Footballs fans might not agree but it turns out that residents think that Liverpool is one of the worst places to live.
Situated on the border of Northern England and Wales and 39 mins away from Manchester, it is said to have drawn the very worst characteristics of both regions.
Liverpool is the most dangerous major city in Merseyside, and is among the top 10 most dangerous overall out of Merseyside's 39 towns, villages, and cities. The overall crime rate in Liverpool in 2021 was 128 crimes per 1,000 people.
Some of the other reasons why people seemed to dislike Liverpool was the apparent gang violence (wait what?), street crime, drug dealing, car burg and piles of dog poop they seem to come across every now and then.
3. Luton
Luton is another name that pops up very often in terms of worst places to live in the UK.
Located to the north of London and 44 mins away from Kings Cross Station, Luton is often loving referred to England’s Toilet. Again, not my words.
Luton is the most dangerous city in Bedfordshire, and is among the top 20 most dangerous overall out of Bedfordshire's 127 towns, villages, and cities. The overall crime rate in Luton in 2021 was 85 crimes per 1,000 people.
Some of the reviews claimed that they saw about 30 kids bursting out of McDonalds punching each other, the town centre is pretty dead and walking at night can be quite a scary experience.
Don’t make eye contact in a pub, avoid Marsh Farm, don’t have high expectations of the train station and avoid McDonalds.
And you should be good.
2. Huddersfield
Another town that is notorious for coming up with terrible reviews is Huddersfield.
It’s located just short of 30 mins away from Manchester, and Leeds.
Some of the reasons for so much hate is the pollution levels, uncleanliness and the people in general. Residents also said that there wasn’t much in the town apart from cheap pound shops and a few coffee shops and more taxis per capita than any other town in the UK, all driven by people that don’t really care for rules.
Once a vibrant hub with Monday market, department stores, cinemas, theatres, dance halls, swimming pools, art shops, good quality clothing shops, all that remains now in Huddersfield is remnants of a by-gone era.
If you’re wondering how safe Huddersfield is, it is the safest major town in West Yorkshire, and is the 24th most dangerous overall out of West Yorkshire's 118 towns, villages, and cities. The overall crime rate in Huddersfield in 2021 was 105 crimes per 1,000 people.
Others also claim that it isn’t the safe areas and you should always be mindful of your phones and wallets or you’ll soon realise they’ve been lifted off you.
1. Aylesbury
And the first place is taken by Aylesbury. Turns out that residents of Aylesbury made the place go viral with the vengeance with which they voted for it being the worst place to live in the UK.
Just an hour away to the North West of London and often used as a commuter town, Aylesbury is based in Buckinghamshire, which actually boasts of some truly beautiful places, Aylesbury however, is often referred to as the boil on the you know where of Buckinghamshire.
Some of the reasons why residents are rather unhappy is because of long queues of traffic, crime and anti social behaviour and apparently sewage smell on a hot day.
In the survey, residents called out the town as being a crime hotspot. One person said: "If you're a middle to upper class family or individual looking to move to Aylesbury, then ensure you employ four full-time security guards and a dog and some barbed wire around your house.”
But that being said, if you check Crime rate, you’ll see that Aylesbury is the safest major town in Buckinghamshire, and is the 31st most dangerous overall out of Buckinghamshire's 216 towns, villages, and cities. The overall crime rate in Aylesbury in 2021 was 80 crimes per 1,000 people.
Now everything said and done, there are also people who say each of these places is lovely so it is important that you check it out for yourself before forming an opinion.
So if you do plan on moving to the UK and you were considering one of these places, put in the work, spend a couple of days evaluating the places yourself so that whatever opinion you form is true for you.
Rather watch it: https://youtu.be/PTzsKocRlrg
Until next time!
